The COVID-19 pandemic has pushed the world into chaos as it has never seen before. Bangladesh, a country of developing economy, has experienced severe disruptions in almost all sectors. Its food supply chain has become one of the most vulnerable sectors when exposed to those stoppages and uncertainties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The country’s food supply chains networks have undergone unforeseen circumstances. In this research paper, we have conducted rigorous search to gather evidence of food supply chain disruptions in Bangladesh from the articles published in journal articles, conference papers, and reliable local and international newspapers. We have summarized the plausible impacts of those disruptions on the food supply chain. Later, we suggest some potential strategies to mitigate those effects. Strategies such as contactless delivery, e-commerce adoption, robust collaborative demand forecasting, and decentralization of food manufacture and production, and efficient information sharing, could effectively mitigate the supply chain disruptions caused by the pandemic. This paper can provide essential insights and managerial guidelines for Bangladesh as well as other developing countries to tackle food supply chain disruptions under the COVID-19 epidemic scenario.

Multiple Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) methods are used widely by researchers to make decisions in the presence of numerous criteria. It is essential to make the right decision for the most of engineering applications which makes the decision-making process more complex and requires further analysis. A major issue of MCDM methods that they suffer from the Rank Reversal Phenomenon (RRP). Another drawback to MCDM methods that they produce different ranking when evaluating the same problem. Thus, researcher tend to develop new methods to overcome these problems. This paper explores the applicability of a new MCDM approach namely Measurement Alternatives and Ranking according to Compromise Solution (MARCOS) by solving four different engineering problems. The results of MARCOS method are analyzed throughout a comparison with the results of other MCDM methods. The rank reversal test is explored for each problem to check the robustness of the method. The two phases of analysis indicate that the method is robust and applicable for different types of engineering applications.

Layout design problem is one of the useful field of study used to increase the efficiency of sources in organizations. In order to achieve an appropriate layout design, it is necessary to define and solve the related nonlinear programming problems. Therefore, using computer in solving the related problems is important in the view of the researchers of this area of study. However, the designs produced by a computer to solve big problems require more time, so, this paper suggests an algorithm that can be useful in better performance of the known algorithms such as Branch and Bound. The proposed study aims to improve the performance of the branch and bound (BB) algorithm in solving QAP problems. The findings show that the proposed method enables the BB algorithm to produce an optimal solution in the minimum amount of time.

Major purpose of this research is identification and evaluating of effective factors on implementation of Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM) at Fanavaran Petrochemical Company by using statistical methods of Kolmogorov-Smirnov, mean and decision making method by topic SWARA (Stepwise Weight Assessment Ratio Analysis). Research methodology of present research base on purpose is practical and based on data gathering method is descriptive-measurement. In order to extracting the effective factors on GSCM at the company, in first, by literature review, 22 factors were identified. Then data were gathered by using of opinions of population members containing 55 persons of experts and senior managers in the first class of company. Finally, after analyzing the questionnaires and statistical tests above, 11 factors were confirmed and selected. In continues, in order to evaluating the final factors and ranking them base on importance in success implementation of GSCM system, the SWARA technique is used. Final outcome of this technique showed that second factor as “Designing products to reduce energy and material consumption, reuse and recycling of materials, prevent the use of hazardous materials in the production process” by most weight is extracted as the most important factor. Such, the factors of “Materials and compliance with the standards required for the purchase of raw materials” and “Procurement, distribution and reverse logistics” placed in next ranks base on importance. The factor of “total environmental quality management” by least weight is identified as last factor in implementation of GSCM at the company. In the end of research, it is proposed that organizations focus on environmental problem to acquire skill green environment advantage through green supply chain activities.

Network DEA models deal with measurements of relative efficiency of Decision-Making Units (DMUs) when the insight of their internal structures is available. In network models, sub-processes are connected by links or intermediate products. Links have the dual role of output from one division or sub-process and input to another one. Therefore, improving the efficiency score of one division by increasing its output may reduce the score of another division because of increasing its input. To address this conflict, in the present paper we proposed a new approach in Slack-Based Measure (SBM) framework which provides deeper insights regarding the sources of inefficiency. The proposed approach is a two-phase procedure in which Phase-I determine the role of intermediate measures by solving a linear program and partitions the intermediate measures into three groups of “input type”, “output type” and “fixed-flows” and Phase-II measures the scores of the DMUs under evaluation. Providing a classification for intermediate products and account their excesses or shortfalls in efficiency calculation while the continuity of link flows between subunits are kept, are the advantages of the proposed approach.

Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM) is defined as the integration of environmental thinking into supply-chain management, including product design, material sourcing and selection, manufacturing processes and procurement. Generally, the sustainable supply chain is built on three dimensions: social, economic, and environmental, while the green supply chain emphasizes on the environmental issue considering an economic result. Although many works of sustainable growth heed attention on the profit margin as a first priority, however, the green supply chain focuses on the environmental issue along with an efficacious process, which is a beneficial to the environment as well. There are over 200 papers about GSCM. But among them, very few papers focus on the Pharmaceutical Industry, specially focusing on the supplier. But this paper focuses on implementing GSCM on Pharmaceutical Industry. Multi-objective Optimization Model has been applied here. Performance of the proposed model is evaluated by the Pycharm Solver of Python.

All organizations inevitably must deal with various critical situations. This requires providing the necessary resilience-building infrastructure and facilities. A review of the research literature reveals that scholars have examined factors affecting Organizational Resilience (OR) from different perspectives. This paper aims to compile and synthesize qualitative findings of previous research to gain an in-depth understanding and provide a list of effacing factors to organizations on their improvement practices related to OR. In conducting a systematic literature review, 98 articles were selected for final analysis. The data were analyzed, summarized, and synthesized in a step-by-step coding process, where 14 themes were identified as factors influencing OR. The identified factors included flexibility, control, redundancy and resources, planning and preparedness, decision-making, social capital, resilience policymaking, organizational culture, staff, financial and economic viability, collaboration, customers and markets, modernization discourse, and learning. Through a meta-synthesis of qualitative findings, this study is one of the first to form a novel perspective for offering a holistic understanding of affecting factors that provide evidence to support improvement practices in OR.

Decision-making models such as Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP), Weighted Decision Matrix (WDM), Pugh Matrix and the likes have been able to assist in the decision process considering the objectives of each evaluation criteria in the alternatives. However, these models need to consider the qualitative and subjective nature of the design features. In order to reduce the unbalanced scale of judgment and the uncertainty associated with the crisp information in the decision process, fuzzified and hybridized models are necessary. Existing hybridized decision models applied for machine concept selection deploy several design features and sub-features at the conceptual product design, which thus make the decision making process to be tedious. In light of this, this article presents a hybridized decision-making model, which harness the comparative strength and computational integrity of fuzzy pairwise comparison matrix and fuzzy weighted average, to numerically analyse a reasonable amount of machine design features, thereby making decision making process less tedious. Design for reconfigurability and functionality which are peculiar to reconfigurable machines was introduced using a Reconfigurable Assembly Fixture (RAF) as a case study while other design features related to design concept evaluation were grouped under design for X. The result of the hybridized model shows that, concept three is the optimal design from four sets of designs. This is compared to previous publication using the RAF design concepts with different design features and sub-features. The comparison indicates that there is a close range in the final values of the designs due to the inclusion of several sub-features in the decision process which were not used in the previous study.

Economic researchers consider the development of transportation as blood circulation in the economic body of the country, which accelerating its circulation satisfies the vital and basic economic needs faster, and any kind of disorder and slowness in it causes great damage to the process of growth and development. Therefore, some economists and planners have considered the economic growth to be dependent on the development of the transportation sector and the existence of enough vehicles and related facilities. In this regard, Iran is very important due to its special position near the borders of Central Asia and the Caucasus and because it’s a bridge between the two major continents of Asia and Europe and has access to open waters. The main problem of this research is to identify all the dimensions and components that affect the transportation (transit) of goods and products, and because we finally want to present a strategy, the next problem is to rank these factors and consider the most important components and dimensions of Islamic Republic transportation. Analytic hierarchical process was used to determine the importance and weight of the criteria and then Expert Choice software was used for ranking. Given that the subject of transportation is a specific and macro issue, investigating it from a marketing perspective is a novel perspective, the studies conducted by students have remained at the research level, and there have not been many related studies on marketing in Iran, the most important limitation of the research was the ability to explain the reason of conducting this research and controlling the interviews. The results of pairwise comparisons and weights are expressed in the following. Accordingly, among the 20 sub-criteria, the use of information technology is ranked first. After that, sustainable development and smart transportation ranked second and third, respectively.

The growing need for adequate and safe blood and the high costs of health systems have prompted governments to improve the functioning of health systems. One of the most critical parts of a health system is the blood supply chain, which accounts for a significant share of the health system's costs. In the present study, with an operational approach, the total network costs are minimized along with the minimization of transportation time and lead time of delivery of blood products. Also, determining the optimal routing decisions is improved the level of responsiveness and reliability of the network. In this research, a multi-objective stochastic nonlinear mixed-integer model has been developed for Tehran's blood supply chain network. Robust scenario-based programming is capable of effectively controlling parametric uncertainty and the level of risk aversion of network decisions. Also, the proposed reliability approach controls the adverse effects of disturbances and creates an adequate confidence level in the capacity of the network blood bank. Lastly, the model is solved through the Lagrangian relaxation algorithm. Comparison of the results shows the high convergence rate of the solutions in the Lagrangian relaxation algorithm.

Feature selection is the process of picking the most effective feature among a considerable number of features in the dataset. However, choosing the best subset that gives a higher performance in classification is challenging. This study constructed and validated multiple metaheuristic algorithms to optimize Machine Learning (ML) models in diagnosing Alzheimer’s. This study aims to classify Cognitively Normal (CN), Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), and Alzheimer’s by selecting the best features. The features include Freesurfer features extracted from Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) images and clinical data. We have used well-known ML algorithms for classifying, and after that, we used multiple metaheuristic methods for feature selection and optimizing the objective function of the classification. We considered the objective function a macro-average F1 score because of the imbalanced data. Our procedure not only reduces the irreverent features but also increases the classification performance. Results showed that metaheuristic algorithms could improve the performance of ML methods in diagnosing Alzheimer’s by 20%. We found that classification performance can be significantly enhanced by using appropriate metaheuristic algorithms. Metaheuristic algorithms can help find the best features for medical classification problems, especially Alzheimer’s.

Many numbers of speed breakers were constructed on different outlets and even inside the city of Woldia for the purpose of reducing car accidents that occurred due to over speed driving. Surely while the speed of the vehicle is reduced or the driver drives the vehicle at low speeds, the probability of accident occurrence is very low. But reducing the speed in such a manner or using sudden breaking will result in kinetic energy wastage due to change in velocity and wastage of potential energy due to climbing of the beaker height. In this study, the number of vehicles that were passed on the specified speed breaker was recorded in seven days and wasted energy was calculated and analyzed for each type of vehicle for the seven days. A total amount of 376,849.6kJ is wasted during those days on a single speed breaker which has a huge impact on the economy of the country by increasing fuel consumption of individual cars.

In this paper, a multi-objective assignment problem with fuzzy parameters (FMOASP) is introduced. These fuzzy parameters are characterized by an interval-valued fuzzy numbers instead of fuzzy numbers. The signed distance ranking of interval- valued fuzzy numbers of the parameters are not random but bear well-defined relationship to one another. A new approach namely, optimal flowing method is proposed to obtain the ideal and the set of all fuzzy efficient solutions for the problem. A numerical example is given to demonstrate the computational efficiency of the proposed approach.

Acridoidea Stirred Artificial Bee Colony (ASA) Algorithm is applied to solve the power loss reduction problem. In the projected algorithm natural Acridoidea jumping phenomenon has been imitated and the modeled design has been intermingled with artificial bee colony algorithm. In the proposed algorithm, the position update has been done through the distance of jumping done by Acridoidea. The distance (D) is horizontal (h) with angle (θ), velocity (V) parameter amplifying the rate which is based on the gravity of Ballistic projectile. Normally, the angle will be 45◦ horizontal and it depends on the take-off velocity. ASA algorithm has been tested in standard IEEE 57 bus test system and results show that the proposed ASA algorithm reduced the real power loss effectively.

So that we have decided to assess the overall productivity of the company with the considertaions of potential sub systems with in it. The existing system overall productivity level have been measured through Performance Objectives Productivity (PO-P) approach. In the case company six subsystems where identified: technology, production, marketing, ergonomics, values and goals and materials. Afterwards, their importances to the company have been prioritized using paired comparison analysis technique. By using Pareto analysis; technology, marketing, ergonomics and production have been identified as potential subsystems. By using PO-P approach the productivity of these four potential subsystems has been measured. As a result, productivity indices of production, marketing, technology, and ergonomics subsystems are 0.7379, 0.6661, 0.7882 and 0.7156 respectively. This resulted the existing system overall productivity of 0.652.

Compatibility with the environment is one of the important factors in designing a supply chain system, which is also called the “green supply chain”. Similar to the supply chain, green suppliers are very important players in the green supply chain. This paper studies both selection of suppliers and optimal order allocation to them. Despite previous studies, we consider both strategic and operational decisions into the problem. Firstly, we investigate the relevant criteria in selecting suppliers, and assign appropriate weights to suppliers. Then, we apply the fuzzy TOPSIS technique to asses and rank the suppliers. Finally, we investigate optimal allocation of order to the suppliers. For this reason, a two-objective mathematical model is developed. To solve the model, “weighting” and “ɛ-constraint” methods will be investigated, followed by a sensibility analysis to study the changes in the problem’s parameters. The proposed approach is important because it models the strategic and operational decision simultaneously.

Today, paying attention to the interests of suppliers in supply chain management strategies is one of the important points in the success of long-term and strategic relationships with suppliers. Not paying enough attention to these points sometimes causes irreparable damage to the overall structure of the organization. In response to this need, researchers have developed and proposed different models according to different approaches. This research has presented a special model with the approach of answering these problems. This approach, which is based on the Cuckoo Optimization Algorithm (COA), can solve the problems in multi-objective methods in addition to single-objective problems. This method based on the COA and the ε-constraint method named COA/ε-Constraint. The general approach of this method is to turn a multi-objective problem into a single-purpose problem, which is associated with increased efficiency. The model studied in this paper, with the aim of creating coordination between buyers and suppliers in the problem of supplier selection, is a three-objective model of cost, quality and delivery time, which is implemented to evaluate the performance of the proposed method. The results show the superiority of the proposed method over similar approaches in terms of creating a Pareto frontier.

The main problem in the detection of breast cancer is to find how tumors turn into malignant or benign and we can do this with the help of machine learning techniques as they provide an appropriate result. According to research, an experienced physician can diagnose cancer with 79% accuracy while using machine learning techniques provides an accuracy of 91%. In this work, machine learning techniques have been applied which include K-Nearest Neighbors algorithm (KNN), Support Vector Machine (SVM), and Decision Tree Classifier (DT). To predict whether the cause is benign or malignant we have used the breast cancer dataset. The SVM classifier gives more accurate and precise results as compared to others, and this classifier is trained with the larger datasets.

3D printing or additive manufacturing is a technology in which 3D objects are printed by depositing a thin layer of material layer-by-layer until a final product is produced. In this research work, it has been focused on the fabrication of a Portable 3D Printer for the manufacturing of sample parts by using Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) process. The primary process parameters such as nozzle temperature, extrusion speed and fill density in addition to their interactions are studied. It has been observed that these process parameters influence the dimensional accuracy and extrusion time of the part produced by the process of FDM. The main objective of the research work is to create a reliable and cost efficient 3-D printer and to minimize the dimensional variation that usually occurs to plastic parts produced by 3D printers. Cartesian mechanism has been used where the print bed moves in the Z direction and the extruder moves in both the X and Y directions. The 3D printing filament that has been used is made of Poly Lactic Acid or Poly Lactide (PLA). The process involved 3D solid modeling to design, 3D printing with coated adhesive applied on the printing platform, measurement of dimensional variation of the printed parts and statistical analysis. Response Surface Methodology (RSM) based desirability analysis has been employed for optimization of FDM process parameters namely, nozzle temperature, extrusion speed and fill density. Mathematical models were developed and tested for accuracy and extrusion time using Design Expert 11 software for RSM application.

One of the fields studied in the science of heat physics is the thermoelectric phenomenon. This phenomenon is in fact the interaction between the current of electricity and the thermal properties of a system. In simpler terms, it is a phenomenon in which the direct conversion of a temperature difference to voltage occurs. In this paper, we introduced a method based on the finite difference technique for solving a fractional differential equation in the field of thermal physics which describes the thermoelectric phenomena, numerically. For this purpose, we used fractional order derivatives with the definitions of Caputo, finite differences with the second order central finite-difference approach, and the first order central finite-difference. By using this method, we translate the desired differential equation to a system of nonlinear differential equations which can be solved. Finally, some numerical are used to demonstrate the effective and accuracy of the scheme. The obtained numerical results show that our proposed method is highly accurate.
