In present’s, the location selection problems play an important role for the top-level manager or entrepreneur for opening a new manufacturing company or relocate or expand their operation. As an engineered material, the plastic is used for manufacturing a wide variety of domestic products. For this reason, the plastic manufacturing industries are growing in Bangladesh through the last two eras. This paper might be helpful to select a new location or expansion of the existing one in Bangladesh for the plastic manufacturing company. In this study, we have taken five commercial districts as location and ten criteria for deep consideration from all promising sites of Bangladesh. For this purpose, data has collected through surveying and questionnaires. Then, the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) has used to make a preference measure to select the best location for plastic manufacturing industries. From the comparison value of the composite weight, it can be found that Mongla is the best alternative location for the decision problems.

Selecting the most appropriate and optimal facility location for a new organization or expansion of an existing location is an important strategic issue. The location, which results in higher economic benefits through increased productivity and good distribution network, is the best location. It is necessary to compare the performance characteristics in a decisive way when a choice is to be made from among several alternative facility locations. While the facility location selection problem includes multiple conflicting criteria and a finite set of potential candidate alternatives, different multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) methods can be effectively applied to solve such type of problem. In this paper, we apply three MCDM methods on a facility location selection problem and their relative ranking performances are compared. Because of disagreement in the ranks obtained by the three different MCDM methods, a final ranking method based on REGIME is also proposed to facilitate the decision making process. Then, the results of this study are compared by the results of the same study.

This paper investigates the problem of designing an integrated production-distribution system which supports strategic and tactical decision levels in supply chain management. This overall optimization is achieved using mathematical programming for modeling the supply chain functions such as location, production, and distribution functions. Our model intends to minimize the total cost including production, location, transportation, and inventory holding costs. In view of the NP-hard nature of the problem, this paper provides a hybrid algorithm incorporates Genetic Algorithm into Lagrangian Relaxation method (namely HLRGA) to update the lagrangian multipliers and improve the performance of LR method. The effectiveness of HLRGA has been investigated by comparing its results with those obtained by CPLEX, hybrid genetic algorithm, and simulated annealing on a set of supply chain network problems with different sizes. Finally, an industrial case demonstrates the feasibility of applying the proposed model and algorithm to the real-world problem in a supply chain network.
